Jordan Hicks: A Rising Star in MLB
Early Life and Career
Jordan McKinley Hicks was born on September 6, 1996, in Spring, Texas. He attended Morton Ranch High School, where he played baseball and football.
After graduating high school, Hicks enrolled at Texas A&M University, where he played college baseball for the Aggies.
Professional Career
St. Louis Cardinals
Hicks was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Cardinals in 2018.
During his time with the Cardinals, Hicks emerged as a dominant relief pitcher, known for his blazing fastball and exceptional strikeout ability. In 2020, he averaged 99.2 MPH on his sinker, the fourth-fastest average sinker speed in MLB.
San Francisco Giants
In March 2023, Hicks signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. He is expected to serve as the Giants' starting pitcher in 2023.
