Gervonta Tank Davis Knocks Out Frank Martin, Retains WBA Lightweight Title
Undefeated Champion Extends Record to 29-0
Undefeated three-division world champion Gervonta Tank Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) retained his WBA lightweight title Saturday night with an eighth-round knockout of Frank Martin.
Davis Dominates Throughout the Fight
Davis controlled the fight from the opening bell, outboxing and outmaneuvering Martin. He landed several clean shots throughout the first seven rounds, but Martin showed resilience and heart, absorbing Davis' power and firing back with his own punches.
Explosive Finish in the Eighth Round
In the eighth round, Davis turned up the heat and landed a devastating left hook that sent Martin crashing to the canvas. Martin attempted to get up but was unable to continue, giving Davis the victory by knockout.
Davis' Future Plans
With his latest victory, Davis has established himself as one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world. He is expected to return to the ring later this year to defend his title again or possibly move up to welterweight.
